Is Self Publishing the Right Path for New Authors

I’ve been researching different publishing options and recently started learning more about self book publishing. While the freedom and control sound great, I’m curious about the real challenges authors face along the way. How difficult is it to manage editing, cover design, and promotion on your own? For those who have already tried this route, did it meet your expectations, or would you choose a different approach next time?
